Coffee Pods

Axil coffee pods bring the specialty coffee we roast for our cafés into the convenience of a Nespresso Original machine. The range includes Seasonal Blend, Heavyweight, Decaf and rotating single origin releases from places including Colombia and Ethiopia, packed into recyclable aluminium capsules.

Specialty Coffee in a Pod

Our coffee pods start with specialty grade coffee sourced through the same approach we bring to the beans served across our venues. Our blends are built around recognisable flavour profiles, while rotating single origin pods give individual producers and origins more room to come through.

That includes releases from Colombia and Ethiopia, bringing the kind of origin focused coffee more commonly found in a bag of whole beans into a pod machine.

For anyone looking to buy specialty coffee pods online, the aim is simple: give you an easier way to make good coffee without asking you to give up the character that made you choose specialty coffee in the first place.

Which Machines Do Axil Coffee Pods Work With?

Axil pods are compatible with the Nespresso Original capsule system.

That includes Original line machines such as:

  • Pixie
  • Essenza and Essenza Mini
  • CitiZ
  • Inissia
  • Lattissima models that use the Original capsule system

They are not compatible with Nespresso Vertuo machines. Original and Vertuo machines use different capsule shapes and brewing systems, so pods designed for one system cannot be used in the other.

If you are unsure which machine you own, check whether it takes the smaller traditional Nespresso Original capsule before ordering.

Axil pods are made from recyclable aluminium. Once you have finished brewing, used capsules can be returned to any Axil store for recycling.

They should not simply be placed loose into standard household recycling, as coffee capsules generally require a dedicated collection and processing system to separate the aluminium from the used coffee grounds.

Choosing Your Coffee Pods

The right pods come down to how you like your coffee.

Heavyweight

Heavyweight is the fuller, more developed option and a good place to start if you mostly drink flat whites, lattes or cappuccinos.

Its richer profile is designed to stay present once milk is added, making it particularly suited to anyone looking for espresso coffee pods with a little more weight behind them.

If you already drink Heavyweight at an Axil venue or buy it as beans, the pod gives you another way to keep it in the routine.

Seasonal Blend

Seasonal is the everyday all rounder.

The origins within the blend move with the coffee harvest while the overall character remains balanced and recognisable. It works comfortably black or with milk and is a good starting point if you want one box that can handle different drinking styles.

You can explore Seasonal, Heavyweight and the rest of our coffee blends if you also brew with an espresso machine at home.

Single Origin

Single origin pods are where things get a little more expressive.

These releases put the focus on one coffee and its particular origin, producer and flavour profile. Axil has released coffee machine pods from origins including Colombia and Ethiopia, giving pod drinkers another way to explore seasonal specialty coffee.

They follow the same limited lot thinking as our whole bean single origins. When one coffee finishes, the next release can bring something completely different.

Decaf

Sometimes you want another coffee without another dose of caffeine.

Our Decaf Espresso Pods use Swiss Water Decaf for an easy afternoon or evening cup. Same simple pod format, significantly less caffeine.

The Same Coffee, Made Simple

The coffee inside every Axil pod starts with the same focus on sourcing, roasting and flavour that shapes what we serve across our own venues.

Seasonal and Heavyweight bring familiar Axil blend profiles into a Nespresso compatible format, while rotating single origin releases give you the chance to explore more distinctive coffees from individual producers and origins.

The format is simple, but the coffee is still the priority. It is an easy way to bring the Axil experience home, with a consistent cup ready whenever you want it.

Why Axil Coffee?

We have been roasting coffee in Hawthorn, Melbourne since 2010. Across the Axil team are two World Barista Championship titles and seven Australian Barista Championship titles. Those titles have sharpened the way we taste coffee, understand consistency and work with producers, but the same thinking is applied to the coffee we serve every day.

Our sourcing starts with specialty grade green coffee bought close to harvest. We work directly with producers, with some relationships spanning more than a decade,, giving us a closer understanding of the farms, people and coffees behind each lot. Once the green coffee reaches Hawthorn, we roast to order.

We also serve the coffee we roast across Axil’s own venues every day. That keeps the roastery connected to how our blends and single origins perform when they leave the cupping table and meet real customers.

Order Your Pods

Choose a box that sounds like the way you drink coffee and see what specialty coffee tastes like from your pod machine.

Go Heavyweight if milk is your usual. Try Seasonal for an everyday cup, explore a rotating single origin when you want something different or keep Decaf ready for later in the day.

And if pods are already part of your daily routine, our Coffee Pod Subscription can keep your favourites arriving regularly without another order to remember.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Axil coffee pods Nespresso compatible?

Yes. Axil coffee pods are compatible with Nespresso Original machines, including models such as Pixie, Essenza, CitiZ, Inissia and Original line Lattissima machines. They are designed for the traditional Nespresso Original capsule format.

---

Do these pods work with Nespresso Vertuo machines?

No. Axil pods do not fit Nespresso Vertuo machines. Nespresso Original and Vertuo are separate systems that use different capsule formats, so Original compatible pods cannot be used in a Vertuo machine.

---

How do I dispose of or recycle the pods?

Axil coffee pods are made from recyclable aluminium. You can collect your used capsules and return them to any Axil store for recycling. Avoid placing individual capsules loose in household recycling, as coffee pods generally need specialist processing to separate the coffee grounds from the aluminium.

---

How long do coffee pods stay fresh?

Coffee pods are sealed to protect the ground coffee from oxygen, moisture and light, helping them remain stable for longer than an opened bag of ground coffee. Check the best before date on the individual box and store your pods somewhere cool and dry away from direct heat and sunlight.

---

Do you offer a decaf coffee pod?

Yes. Axil offers Decaf Espresso Pods made using Swiss Water Decaf, giving you a Nespresso compatible option when you want the coffee without most of the caffeine.

---

Can I subscribe to coffee pods?

Yes. Axil offers a Coffee Pod Subscription for regular deliveries of blends and single origin coffee pods. It is an easy option if you already know pods are part of your everyday routine and would rather not reorder each time you run low.
